Do you have a little one on the way? CONGRATULATIONS! If you’re a first-time mom (or even a seasoned pro), but are unsure of exactly what baby products are all the rage these days, today’s post is for you!
Hey, friend! My name is Macy Gilson and I am so excited you’re here. I am a pediatric speech language pathologist, children’s author, and disability advocate. I started this community as a place for parents to share stories and find support in their mission to raise kind humans and create welcoming homes. I love all things DIY, disability awareness, and education and I am honored that you’re here!
Most days our community hangs out on Instagram, so you can click here to join us!
You’re probably here because just like me, you found out you have a sweet little one on the way and you have absolutely no idea which baby products to add to your growing list. I’ve been a mom for one whole month now, and here are the things we use every single day! ;)

Newborn Baby Must-Haves
SnuggleMe Organic Infant Lounger: This lounger is hands down the most used baby product in our house. We have used it every day since we got home from the hospital. It’s perfect for supervised naps, lounging, and even tummy time. Our little one loves how snug it makes him feel and he instantly calms down when we lay him in it. We have the Classic Infant Lounger, as well the washable cover in Natural. The cover is not a necessity, but we’ve already had a few spills and leaks, so being able to take the cover off and throw it in the wash has been well worth it.
Hatch Rest Sound Machine: I’ll be honest, I was a little bit skeptical about this sound machine because I am a very light sleeper and prefer complete silence, but after using the Hatch Rest for the last month, I don’t know how I will ever be able to sleep without it! It is a sound machine and nightlight all in one - with 11 sounds to choose from and 10 preset colors. The best part…you can control everything (power, color, sound, bedtime, nap time and wake up) all from your phone with the Hatch app!
Stroller Fan: I was worried that having a newborn in summer would make getting out of the house a bit difficult, but this portable stroller fan helps so much! It has three flexible legs, making it easy to wrap around anything (the car headrest, the carseat, the stroller) or even just prop up in front of the baby. I also brought it to the hospital for delivery and was so thankful I had it to keep me cool.
Tush Swiper: This diaper rash cream applicator is so helpful (especially when time is of the essence!) and fits on most diaper cream tubes.. We’re always racing against the clock before our little boy sprays us and this Tush Swiper helps us get the diaper cream so much quicker. I prefer it to the spatula because it has a cap, so I don’t have to worry about cleaning it or it getting everywhere when I put it in the diaper bag.
The Ollie Swaddle: A friend recommended I add this swaddle to my registry and I am SO glad I did! It is the best swaddle we’ve tried and the best part is that it grows with baby so there is no need to buy new sizes every couple months. It has three velcro patches and an elastic band that you can adjust to fit baby’s size. It’s washable, moisture wicking and allows for diaper changes without taking the swaddle off - a true middle-of-the-night win!
Even though I have only been a mom for a month, I can already tell you it is the most beautiful and rewarding job in the whole world.
