My Instagram Fam | Disability Awareness

I have met so many amazing people through social media, so I have decided to start a new series on the blog called My Instagram Fam. I am constantly inspired by these accounts and I want to share them with you all today in the hope that you will be inspired, too! If you’re looking for some positivity and light in your social media feed, I strongly encourage you to follow these amazing accounts!

This first post is dedicated to social media accounts focused on disability awareness! You can follow each one by clicking on the link!

  1. @advocatelikeamother - Two special needs mamas (@meeshellsullivan and @_ashleymontano) started this podcast to educate, empower and inspire parents to find their voice and be the best advocate for their child!

  2. @sageofsilas - Felicia is a hearing mom raising a deaf toddler! Her son, Silas, was born with profound bilateral sensorineural hearing loss. She is a supporter of total communication, which includes American Sign Language and spoken language and Silas also wears cochlear implants. (You can read Silas’ story here)

  3. @lu_mulloy - Lauren is a military wife, nurse and mom of three. Her sweet second baby, Tate, was born with a limb difference and she is his fiercest advocate. If you’re looking for someone who always keeps it real, follow Lauren!

  4. @tinklesherpants - Stephanie’s husband has a heart condition that they learned of when she found him unconscious. Their two children, Campbell and Eli, both have autism, although it looks different for both of them. One day Stephanie made her private journal public, and so many people are thankful she did!

  5. @tulipsintuscany - This is the brainchild of special needs mamas, Steffi, Taylor, Mercedes and Sara. Each week, on Instagram Live, they feature a new guest host and discuss topics such as disability, inclusion, therapies, family life and more!

  6. @amazingabigailgrace - Abigail was born with cerebral palsy and I was fortunate enough to share her story with our community last summer. Since then, I have seen Abby tackle challenges with grace and bravery! (You can read Abby’s story here)

I hope you are inspired by these amazing people just as much as I am! In the next My Instagram Fam post, I will be sharing my favorite speech and language accounts to celebrate #BetterSpeechandHearingMonth this May!
